Common Types of Rock Chips
Rock chips come in different shapes and sizes, anything over an inch is not repairable. Meaning not just the impact point which usually originates from one of these, but the entire area in which it has spread to. Anything bigger would need a windshield replacement. Rock chip repairs are structural repairs not cosmetic. Rock chips are to prevent damaged glass from turning into a replacement. Don't expect it to disappear as it is only preventing it to stretch across your screen. Any chip beyond a quarter size will most likely be a replacement.
